About IPI and IPI Metro:
IPI is “The International Psychotherapy Institute,” formerly the International Institute of Object Relations Therapy (IIORT). Founded in 1995, IPI is a non-profit organization based in Chevy Chase, Maryland, with affiliated programs throughout the United States and in Panama City, Panama. IPI offers training programs in Object Relations oriented child and adult psychotherapy (individual, couple, and family), infant observation, and psychoanalysis. IPI programs bring trainees from disparate geographic locations together through weekend conferences (most often held in the DC area), weeklong institutes, and video-link seminars (more information at www.theipi.org).
IPI Metro is “The Metro Washington Center of IPI.” IPI Metro provides psychotherapy, supervision, conferences, seminars, and ongoing training programs to mental health practitioners in the Greater Washington, DC area. IPI Metro faculty are also active members of the larger IPI community. Most of us are graduates of IPI training programs and current IPI fellows or faculty. Living in the hometown of IPI allows IPI Metro students to move smoothly among and between national and local training programs, courses, and continuing education events. This easy flexibility affords us all a rich variety of learning opportunities, and allows each student to make personal choices according to his or her own interests and evolving professional needs.
